The city of Naples is placed between the Vesuvius and the volcanic area of Campi Flegrei in one among the most enchanting sceneries of the world, with a vast artistic and architectural heritages, is protected by the UNESCO.
It was founded between the IX and the VIII century from the Greek, recalled at the beginning of the V century B.C. with the name of Neapolis. It knew a golden age reaching an enviable political record with the advent of the Aragonese. The city is also famous for its perfumes, the joy of the people, its kitchen (famous it is the pizza realized for the queen Margherita, but worthy of mention they are also the sfogliatella, the pasta and the zeppoles of St. Joseph). Characteristic is also the manger that has become in Naples a motive for tourist attraction: St. Gregorio Armeno street comes during the Advent time , literally taken of assault by visitors which look around among shops with their best shepherds. Sellers invent every year new character to insert in the manger (vip, politicians...) this is a napolitan really genius idea!!! The history has left a series of architectural works as castles, real residences, gardens. A great number of castles were built castles: Maschio Angioino, Castel Capuano, Castel Sant'Elmo, Castel dell'Ovo and the Caserma Garibaldi. Squares, fountains, villas need a visit in Naples are: Plaza of the Plebiscite, the Chartreuse of St. Martin, the fountains of the Sebeto and the Neptune, Building Malatesta and Gallery Umberto I. |
